Dhaka: The 30th anniversary of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at Rajshahi University (RU) was celebrated today with a series of programs and events.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the celebration was graced by the presence of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Abdul Alim as the chief guest. He was joined by Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Mamunur Rashid and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences Professor Golam Mortuza, who attended as special guests.
The festivities kicked off with a colorful rally that commenced in front of the Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose Academic Building, making its way around the campus. This rally witnessed participation from the Pro-Vice Chancellors, the Chairman of the department, as well as teachers, students, officers, employees, and other stakeholders.
The main event took place at the department at 10:30 am. The program was inaugurated with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by a discussion meeting led by the Chairman of the department, Professor Md. Ashadul Islam.
The gathering also saw the attendance of Professor S. M. Kamruzzaman, Administrator of the Public Relations Office, alongside former and current teachers, students, officers, and employees, who all came together to commemorate the milestone.
