Rangpur: In memory of the late Professor Dr Muhammad Rezaul Haq, Rangpur Sahitya-Sangskriti Parishad (RSSP) organized a programme titled “Swmaraner Batayan” at its office on the city’s Town Hall premises on Friday afternoon. Professor Haq, a former Principal of Rangpur Carmichael College and a significant figure in the educational and cultural landscape, passed away on February 2 at the age of 92.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was presided over by RSSP President Dr Nasima Akhter and moderated by its General Secretary Mamun Ur Rashid. The programme commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran, setting a solemn tone for the proceedings. Attendees engaged in reading and discussing Dr Haq’s writings, while dedicated poems were recited by notable figures such as Dr Mofizul Islam Maantu and Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, along with former RSSP Presidents Anwarul Islam Raju and Swattik Shah Al Maruf.
The event saw participation from RSSP’s executive committee members, including SM Amjad Hossain Sarkar, Sufi Zahid Hossain, and others who contributed to the discussions and recitations. Poets, writers, and cultural activists like Ahsan Habib, Nur Alam, and Kamrul Hasan were also present, reflecting the broad impact of Dr Haq’s legacy on the community.
Concluding the programme, special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the soul of the late Professor Dr Muhammad Rezaul Haq, with Anwarul Islam Raju leading the prayers. Dr Haq’s contributions as an adviser to RSSP were fondly remembered, marking the event as a heartfelt tribute to his enduring influence.
