RmSTU Hosts Inaugural Science Olympiad-2026 with Enthusiastic Student Participation

Rangamati: The Rangamati University of Science and Technology (RmSTU) hosted the first-ever ‘Science Olympiad-2026’ on its campus today, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across the district. Vice-Chancellor and Fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Science Professor Dr. Md Atiyar Rahman attended the rally and discussion session as the chief guest. Students from various schools and colleges in Rangamati district took part in the event.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event saw the presence of several notable figures, including Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Technology and Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Dr. Muhammad Jamshed Alam Patwary, Proctor of the University Saddam Hossain, and teachers and students from different departments of RmSTU and local educational institutions.



A total of 219 students from schools and colleges in Rangamati district registered for the Science Olympiad, which is being organized nationwide by the Bangladesh Academy of Science. Out of them, 157 students participated in the competition, including 114 at the school level and 43 at the college level. The Olympiad was held from 10:00 am and lasted for one and a half hours.



After the evaluation of the answer scripts, prizes were distributed later this afternoon at the academic building of RmSTU. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Atiyar Rahman mentioned that the Bangladesh Academy of Science organizes various programs throughout the year to foster students’ interest in science in the Rangamati district.



He expressed hope that students educated at RmSTU, the only higher education institution in the district, would apply scientific knowledge to improve the quality of life of the people in the region.
