Rizwana Advocates for Expanded Satellite Use to Enhance Governance and Resource Management

Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today emphasized the need to broaden the application of satellite technology to improve governance, manage natural resources, and enhance disaster response. “When the real benefits of satellite use are realized, accountability will be ensured, corruption will decline, and crime will be reduced,” she remarked while addressing a business strategic dialogue organized by Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) at a city hotel.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizwana highlighted that the multifaceted use of satellites is crucial in the current era, emphasizing their importance for national security, capacity building, water management, and urban planning. She also called for the strengthening of BSCL’s capabilities and advocated for increased inter-ministerial coordination.

The event featured Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb as the special guest, with Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Abdun Naser Khan delivering the welcome address. Other notable speakers included Science and Technology Secretary Md Anwar Hossain, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Abu Tahir Muhammad Zaber, and Agriculture Secretary Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian. The keynote paper was presented by BSCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman.
