Dhaka:BNP acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi cautioned party leaders and activists on Monday not to compromise the party's long-standing political efforts for personal benefits like fertilizer dealerships and government contracts. He emphasized maintaining public trust through tolerance and responsible behavior.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rizvi delivered his remarks during a commemorative meeting on the 10th death anniversary of former minister and BNP National Standing Committee member Brig Gen (retd) A S M Hannan Shah.

He urged BNP members to focus on broader party responsibilities and governance, rather than personal achievements. Rizvi highlighted the party's success in establishing a government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman after 17 years, attributing improvements in gas and electricity supply to Rahman's leadership.

Rizvi emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive government image and urged MPs to ensure peace in their constituencies while supporting the people. He criticized past regimes for corruption and assured that the BNP remains committed to peace, stability, and lawfulness.

He noted ongoing conspiracies to destabilize the country and reported the arrest of two retired army officers for suspected sabotage plans. Rizvi called on party members to remain vigilant, especially as Durga Puja approaches, and to act voluntarily without waiting for directives.

The event was attended by prominent BNP figures including Gazipur district president Fazlul Haque Milan, National Executive Committee Organising Secretary Saiful Haque Bablu, Hannan Shah's son Reazul Hannan, former Chhatra Dal leaders, and BNP lawmakers. Rizvi concluded by praying for the late Hannan Shah's eternal peace.
