Dhaka: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today asserted that any favoritism shown towards a particular party in the upcoming national parliamentary election will be intolerable to the people of the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi communicated these concerns during an event in Mirpur, which was organized to pray for the recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and to commemorate the death anniversary of the Chairperson's Adviser Kazi Asaduzzaman Asad. Rizvi expressed the public's apprehension following the controversial DUCSU-JUCSU elections, fearing a predetermined outcome in the national election.
Rizvi criticized the Dhaka University Central Students' Union election process, suggesting that it lacked fairness. He claimed that the Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor failed to ensure equal opportunities for all candidates, raising questions about the location of ballot printing and the potential bias towards certain groups.
Highlighting past incidents, Rizvi mentioned concerns about potential interference by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the electoral process, alleging attempts to undermine free and fair elections. He urged for an investigation into such issues to prevent similar occurrences in the national elections.
BNP Standing Committee member Begum Selima Rahman also spoke at the event, criticizing ongoing conspiracies against BNP and calling for unity among party members. Rahman alleged that governmental mismanagement under Sheikh Hasina has led to the degradation of national institutions, affecting the public adversely.
Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nsair Uddin and other party leaders also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the party's stance on electoral integrity and political unity.
