Dhaka: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today acknowledged the replantation of the hand of 20-year-old Tasfin Ferdous from Tongi, who lost his hand in a terrorist attack on November 9, as a significant achievement.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi commended the doctors at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) for their exceptional work, stating that the replantation of Tasfin's hand is a testament to the skill and dedication of Bangladeshi physicians. Rizvi expressed his admiration during a visit to Tasfin Ferdous at the institute.
Tasfin Ferdous's hand was successfully reattached after a challenging 21-hour microsurgery led by Dr. Mohammad Shoriful Islam Sharif at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Rizvi mentioned that his visit aimed to observe this notable medical accomplishment firsthand. He highlighted the complexity of the operation and the successful outcome that allows Tasfin to move his hand and fingers.
Rizvi emphasized the potential of Bangladeshi doctors if given adequate support, suggesting that fewer people would seek medical treatment abroad. He praised their ability, intellect, and skill, citing the operation as a demonstration of their capability.
He extended his congratulations to the medical team, stating that the diligence and expertise of Dr. Sharif and his team are a national achievement. Rizvi noted that their collective efforts have set Tasfin on the path to recovery, which is a source of national pride.
The visit was also attended by BNP Organizing Secretary Meer Sarafat Ali Sapu, Assistant Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin, Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Professor Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Academic Coordinator Professor Dr. Foara Tasnim, and Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Shoriful Islam Sharif, among others.
