Jamalpur: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended the ringleader of a fraud gang involved in scamming PSC non-cadre job exam candidates, from Jamalpur district. The individual arrested has been identified as Matiur Rahman, 32, son of Md. Nasir Uddin, who resides in Mondalbari Noar Para, Kajla, under Islampur Police Station in Jamalpur district.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a squad from the Cyber Police Center (CPC) of the CID detained Matiur in the Melandaha Thana area of Jamalpur district. The operation led to the seizure of two mobile phone sets and a laptop. The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has filed a case in connection with this matter at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the jurisdiction of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

Special Superintendent of Police (Media) of CID Dhaka, Jasim Uddin Khan, confirmed that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the gang. The organized scam targeted ordinary job seekers by promising 90% common suggestions for the PSC’s non-cadre job exams.

The fraudulent group disseminated these guaranteed suggestions via social media, particularly on Facebook pages, before recruitment exams for various non-cadre positions of the PSC. This operation not only deceived job seekers but also tarnished the reputation of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission.

Upon noticing the issue, the PSC assistant lodged a complaint with the CPC, CID on September 1, 2025. The CID, recognizing the gravity of the situation, initiated an investigation. With the assistance of modern information technology and collaboration with CID Jamalpur and District Police, Matiur, the ringleader, was successfully identified and captured.
