Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman today emphasized that the ‘Rickshaw’ symbol in the Dhaka-13 constituency reflects the unity of eleven parties, the aspirations of the July Uprising, and the collective voices of the youth and women in their fight against domination.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman urged voters to rally behind the ‘Rickshaw’ symbol to ensure Maulana Mamunul Haque’s victory. Haque is the candidate endorsed by the eleven-party electoral alliance spearheaded by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The remarks were made at a large election rally held at the Mohammadpur Central Eidgah ground where Dr. Rahman was the chief guest.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated, “Should the 11 party-alliance triumph by Allah’s grace and the people’s support, the Dhaka-13 constituency will gain a courageous, ethical, and dignified guardian.”
Addressing the rally, Dhaka-13 constituency candidate Mamunul Haque asserted, “If elected to parliament, I will strive to uphold the
teachings of the Quran. I am committed to ensuring that no child falls prey to drugs. I promise a Dhaka-13 free from drugs, terrorism, and extortion.”
The rally was presided over by Dhaka-13 election steering committee chief adviser Maulana Mahfuzul Haque. Other senior leaders, including National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam, also addressed the gathering as special guests.
The event saw the participation of thousands of activists and supporters, all pledging to secure a win for the ‘Rickshaw’ symbol. The rally concluded with a mass procession led by Mamunul Haque, which traversed the streets of Mohammadpur before culminating at ‘Tin Rastar Mor’.
