Khulna: KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud today emphasized that research-based knowledge and quality academic writing are fundamental to higher education and innovation in the modern world. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a daylong workshop titled ‘Crafting Academic Writing for Scientific Research’ held on the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) campus. The workshop aimed to enhance students’ research and scientific writing skills.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was organized by the university’s Academic Achievement and Skill Development Centre (AASDC) and took place at the Student Welfare Centre. AASDC Director Prof Dr Md Faruk Hossain chaired the workshop. The chief guest encouraged students to prepare for participation in international-standard research publications while developing research-oriented skills.
Prof Masud stated that such workshops are crucial in promoting research, publication, and creative knowledge practices among students. Special guests at the event included Dean of the Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Khandakar Mahbub Hasan, Dean of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Md Rafiqul Islam, Dean of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Mohammad Sultan Mahmud, and Dean of the Humanities and Business Studies Faculty Prof Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf.
In his address, Prof Dr Md Faruk Hossain highlighted that the workshop was part of continuous efforts to enhance students’ academic competence, inspire interest in research, and improve their scientific writing abilities. The training sessions were conducted by Professor of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department Dr Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury, who served as the resource person.
The workshop was attended by third-year students from the Electronics and Communication Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering departments. It featured sessions on the fundamentals of scientific research, academic writing techniques, research ethics, citation and reference management, research publication processes, and hands-on research-based activities.
