Dhaka: Inflow of remittances witnessed a year-on-year growth of 15.4 percent, reaching US$5,416 million during the period from July to September 6 of the current fiscal year (FY26), according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued today. This marks a significant increase compared to the $4,694 million recorded during the same period of the previous fiscal year 2024-25.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the first six days of September, expatriate Bangladeshis sent approximately $516 million in remittances. This data highlights the crucial role of remittances in the country’s economy and the continued support from the Bangladeshi diaspora.

The consistent rise in remittance inflows is considered vital for Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserves and economic stability. As expatriates continue to contribute significantly to the economy, the government and financial institutions are encouraged to facilitate and support these remittance channels.
