Rangamati: Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Dipen Dewan has emphasized that religious values are indispensable for establishing peace, harmony, and human welfare in society. “Religious institutions are not only places of worship but also serve as important centers of moral education and social unity,” he remarked.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these comments while attending the ‘Grand Merit Offering Ceremony 2026’ as the chief guest at the historic Rajbana Vihar, Rangamati. The event marked the celebration of the Bengali New Year 1433. The minister expressed gratitude to all participants, noting that the event was made possible through the cooperation and support of all attendees.
He further highlighted that the traditions and cultures of all communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts are integral to the nation’s heritage. The government is actively working to preserve their identity and ensure the overall development of the region. The ceremony was attended by senior Buddhist monks, devotees, and members of the religious community from various monasteries.
The event featured a variety of religious activities, including Buddha statue offerings, Sangha donations, Ashtaparishkar offerings, the lighting of a thousand lamps, and financial contributions for the World Peace Pagoda. During the ceremony, eminent Buddhist leaders were honored for their contributions to the religious community. A special prayer was conducted at the end of the ceremony, seeking world peace and the well-being and prosperity of all living beings.
