Dhaka: Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain, known as Kaikobad, has announced that the Ministry of Religious Affairs is implementing landmark reform initiatives aimed at promoting religious harmony and equality across the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted these efforts during a discussion and prize-giving ceremony at Jagannath University's central auditorium, in celebration of the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi. The event was organized by the university administration and featured Kaikobad as the chief guest.
The minister emphasized the government's commitment to these reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He mentioned that new initiatives include the introduction of monthly honorariums and welfare allowances for religious leaders, funded by the state.
Kaikobad also underscored the significance of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad's life as a model for humanity, noting that following his teachings can lead to success both in this world and the hereafter.
The programme was attended by notable figures such as Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin, who served as the chief discussant. Other distinguished guests included the Director General of the Islamic Foundation, Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi, and JnU Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmeen.
As part of the Eid-e-Miladunnabi celebrations, the university organized competitions in Qirat, Hamd, Naat-e-Rasul, and essay writing. Winners were awarded prizes, with Tk 50,000 given to the first-place essay winner and Tk 150,000 distributed among 11 other winners.
The event saw the participation of university officials, faculty members, employees, student leaders, and invited guests, marking a significant occasion in the academic and cultural calendar of the institution.
