Dhaka: US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen on Wednesday launched 50 red, white, and blue rickshaws to honor American independence marking America’s 250th anniversary and highlighted the strong U.S.-Bangladesh partnership. The US Embassy in Dhaka shared photos on its official Facebook page showing the Ambassador riding one of the rickshaws in the capital.

According to United News of Bangladesh, this initiative is part of the celebrations leading up to July 4, 2026, when America will celebrate 250 years of independence. The symbolic rickshaws serve as a vibrant reminder of the enduring relationship between the United States and Bangladesh, showcasing mutual respect and collaboration.

President Donald Trump, reflecting on the significance of this upcoming milestone, stated, ‘With a single sheet of parchment and 56 signatures, America began the greatest political journey in human history.’ This statement underscores the historical importance of the event and the journey that began with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The launch of these rickshaws not only commemorates American history but also reinforces the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
