Accra:The government has announced the initiation of the recruitment process for Bangladeshi workers to Malaysia. Malaysian authorities have agreed to enlist a total of 338 agencies to facilitate this process.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agencies include Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), along with 25 private processing/service agencies and 312 recruiting agencies. The announcement came from a press release issued by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.

Malaysia has consented to recruit 10,000 Bangladeshi workers at zero cost, following a special request from the Bangladesh government. The listed recruiting agencies will be responsible for finding employers in Malaysia, collecting job demand letters, selecting workers in Bangladesh, and conducting recruitment activities.

The 25 processing/service agencies, including BOESL, will assist with the necessary administrative procedures with Malaysian authorities, including visa processing. Subsequently, recruiting agencies will need to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) for workers, as per Bangladeshi law.

Each approved agency will secure BMET clearance for its selected workers under its own license, while processing/service agencies will issue the necessary no-objection certificates (NOCs). The government aims to reopen the Malaysian labor market and boost participation among legitimate Bangladeshi recruiting agencies, with an emphasis on controlling migration costs, ensuring safe recruitment, and maintaining transparency.

Additionally, the finalization of approved medical centers for health examinations of workers going to Malaysia is underway.
