Jhenaidah:Prime Minister's Political Assistant Rashed Khan has strongly criticized Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh's political strategy, accusing them of misleading the public and deceiving their alliance partners.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Rashed Khan highlighted the successive resignations of several key leaders from the National Citizen Party (NCP) as evidence of contradictions in Jamaat's politics. He made these remarks while responding to questions from journalists after offering Juma prayers at Pagla Kanai Sayadatiya Jame Mosque in Jhenaidah town.
Rashed Khan specifically mentioned the recent resignations of several female leaders from the NCP, suggesting that Nahid Islam's failure to retain leaders like Samanta Shermeen was a significant setback. He noted that individuals who initially joined the NCP with specific aspirations are now leaving the party.
He further noted that Nasiruddin Patwary had previously accused Jamaat of hypocrisy in their calls for reforms, and Samanta Shermeen had raised similar concerns before her resignation. Rashed argued that these resignations highlighted the truth of such allegations.
Criticizing Jamaat's politics, Rashed accused the party of using Islam as a political tool to mislead the Bangladeshi populace. He pointed out inconsistencies in Jamaat's statements to foreigners regarding the introduction of Sharia law, contrasting these with their constitutional commitments.
Rashed also questioned Jamaat's agreements with alliance partners, referencing Colonel Oli Ahmed's statement from a rally where Jamaat's ameer assured that the 11-party alliance, if in power, would govern under existing laws and the Constitution rather than Sharia law. Rashed concluded that this discrepancy demonstrates Jamaat's deception towards both the Bangladeshi public and its alliance partners.
BNP leaders KM Wazed, former Pagla Kanai Union Parishad chairman Nazrul Islam, and former convenor of Islami University Chhatra Dal Shahed Ahmed were among those present during Rashed Khan's comments.
