Jhenaidah:Prime Minister's Political Assistant Rashed Khan has accused Jamaat-e-Islami of initiating contact with India as part of a strategy to come to power. He alleged that Jamaat leaders are holding secret meetings with Indian intelligence officials.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rashed Khan made these remarks while responding to journalists' questions after exchanging greetings at the Old DC Court Jame Mosque following Jumma prayers. He criticized both Jamaat and the Awami League, alleging that Jamaat is adopting similar tactics to the Awami League by engaging with India to secure power.

Rashed Khan challenged Jamaat to deny these allegations, urging them to accept his challenge if no such meetings occurred. He also commented on Jamaat's decision not to hold roadside rallies in Gopalganj during their long march to Khulna, questioning their political courage.

He further claimed that Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar had secret meetings with Indian intelligence, with information corroborated by government agencies and investigative journalists. Rashed Khan criticized Jamaat for allegedly speaking against India publicly while holding clandestine meetings with Indian officials.

Regarding the Thakurgaon by-election, he stated that Jamaat's campaign promises, previously successful, are no longer effective, as evidenced by the electorate's rejection of their tactics.

The event was attended by local BNP leaders and activists, including District BNP President MA Majid and General Secretary Zahiduzzaman Mona.
