Dhaka: The Coastal Forest Division of Bhola has successfully recovered a rare Olive Ridley Sea Turtle weighing 50 kg. The turtle was discovered at Paranganj Bazar area under Bhola Sadar Upazila, enclosed in a bag, and subsequently rescued by officials from the Forest Department.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, locals first spotted the turtle at Paranganj Bazar area of Purba Ilisha Union of Bhola Sadar. Acting on the information provided by the residents, the Forest Department swiftly dispatched staff to the location to recover the turtle.
The rescued Olive Ridley Sea Turtle is currently in the custody of the forest office, where it has received primary treatment and is being kept under observation. “The turtle will be released tomorrow into the sea water near Dhalchar area under Char Fashion Upazila,” stated Sufal Roy, Range Officer of Bhola Sadar Forest Department.
