Raphael Scores Brace as Abahani Secures Commanding Victory in Bangladesh Premier League

Gazipur: Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored a brace as Abahani Limited Dhaka beat Dhaka Wanderers Club by 4-1 goals in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football held at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur on Saturday.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, apart from Raphael Augusto’s two goals, forward Suman Reza and Captain Mohammad Ridoy contributed with a goal each for Abahani Limited. Forward Sakib Bepari managed to score a lone goal for Dhaka Wanderers Club.



The first half of the match saw both teams locked in a goalless draw. Dhaka Wanderers Club initially kept pace with Abahani Limited, maintaining a clean score sheet until halftime. However, the second half marked a shift in momentum, with Abahani netting three goals in just nine minutes.



Raphael Augusto broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, giving Abahani Limited the lead, which Suman Reza doubled in the 51st minute. Dhaka Wanderers’ Sakib Bepari narrowed the gap by converting a penalty in the 55th minute, but Ridoy extended Abahani’s lead once more in the 57th minute. Raphael Augusto sealed the victory for Abahani with his second goal in the 83rd minute.



Despite Dhaka Wanderers Club’s efforts to mount a comeback, they were unable to score further in the match. The victory sees Abahani Limited climb to the second position in the league table with 26 points from 11 matches, trailing league leaders Bashundhara Kings by just one point. Dhaka Wanderers Club remains with four points after the same number of matches.



In their previous encounter during the first leg, Abahani Limited narrowly defeated Dhaka Wanderers Club with a solitary goal at Shaheed Dhirendrnath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
