Rangpur: In light of the Election Commission (EC)'s notification, the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election and the referendum on the implementation of the 'July Charter' will be held on February 12, 2026. The election schedule and detailed instructions for the six parliamentary constituencies of Rangpur have been issued in a public notice signed by Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mohammad Enamul Ahsan.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the declared constituencies include Rangpur-1 (Gangachara-City Corporation Ward 1-9), Rangpur-2 (Taraganj-Badarganj), Rangpur-3 (Rangpur Sadar-Cantonment Board-City Corporation Ward 9-33), Rangpur-4 (Kawnia-Pirgachha), Rangpur-5 (Mithapukur), and Rangpur-6 (Pirganj). The schedule specifies that the last date for submission of nomination papers to the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer is December 29, 2025.
The scrutiny of nomination papers will occur from December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Appeals against the Returning Officer's decisions can be filed from January 5 to January 11, 2026, with resolutions expected between January 12 and January 18, 2026. Candidates must withdraw their candidacy by January 20, 2026, and election symbols will be allocated on January 21, 2026.
The notification highlights that voting will take place using transparent ballot boxes and ballot papers from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm on February 12, 2026. For ease of voting, white ballot papers will represent the Jatiya Sangsad elections, while pink ballot papers will be used for the referendum.
The public notification also advises candidates wishing to participate in the parliamentary elections to collect and submit their nomination papers to the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner's Office and the concerned Assistant Returning Officer's Office on December 29, 2025, or any previous working day from 9 am to 5 pm.
