Rangpur: A mobile court imposed fines totaling Taka 90,000 on two eateries in the Keranipra area for violating consumer rights and regulations on Thursday afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the joint operation was carried out by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 and the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection at the Kachari Bazar area under the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station.
The court fined Mouban Bakery Taka 80,000 and Modhumoti Mishti Bhandar Taka 10,000. The fines were imposed for violations including the lack of product packaging, the mixing of prohibited substances in food, and the use of illegal manufacturing processes.
The press release issued tonight emphasized RAB-13's commitment to continuing intelligence activities and operations to enforce a zero-tolerance policy against crimes like illegal hoarding, selling products at excessive prices, and food adulteration.
