Rangamati: The tourist town of Rangamati, known for its natural beauty, is bustling with tourists during the Eid holidays. After visiting the district’s tourism complex and other recreation centers, it was observed that there is a significant influx of tourists in every entertainment center in Rangamati.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Shuvolong Waterfall in Rangamati has been newly decorated for the monsoon season, with other small waterfalls returning to their natural state. Tourists from various parts of the country are visiting these sites with their families. Hotel and motel owners report that 70-80 percent of accommodations in resorts are currently occupied. Domestic and foreign tourists are enjoying the scenic beauty of the hills with their families.

Md. Ramzan Ali, Vice President of the Rangamati Tourism Holiday Complex Ghat Boat Owners Association, mentioned that the arrival of tourists has been as expected since the day after Eid. Alok Bikash Chakma, the manager of the Rangamati Tourism Holiday Complex, stated that several thousand tourists have visited the Rangamati Tourism Hanging Bridge in recent days, resulting in fully occupied rooms at the tourist complex.

Md. Saiful Islam Nickel, owner of Hotel Hill Ambassador, noted a significant increase in tourist arrivals post-Eid, with most rooms booked. Meanwhile, Md. Nasir Uddin, director of Nisarga River Valley and Pod House, revealed that the 17 cottages in Kaptai upazila are fully booked from before Eid until June 17.

Superintendent of Police, Rangamati Tourist Police Nihad Adnan Taian, assured that the Tourist Police is ensuring the safety of tourists visiting the hills and Kaptai Lake. Additionally, the upazila administration is providing round-the-clock assistance to tourists in the district.

Various tourist spots along Kaptai Lake, including suspension bridges, parks, and memorials, are attracting visitors. The border road area of Rangamati, newly accessible to tourists, adds to the district’s appeal. If the tourism industry in Rangamati is further developed, the Chittagong Hill Tracts could see substantial revenue generation and become a prime tourism center in the country.
