Trishal: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today announced that the maximum punishment for Ramisa’s killer will be ensured within the next one month. The Prime Minister made the announcement while inaugurating a three-day national programme marking the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Trishal this afternoon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister emphasized that the death of an innocent girl, Ramisa, in Mirpur, Dhaka, highlights the severe moral degradation in society. He criticized the ousted fascist regime for destroying humanity, compassion, and the country’s religious and social values. Rahman assured that the current government will not tolerate child abuse or violence against women, promising the death penalty for Ramisa’s killer to deter future crimes.
Rahman stressed the importance of establishing the rule of law and reviving religious, social, and cultural values to build a safe and humane society. He cited the life and works of Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam as relevant in this endeavor.
Following Ramisa’s murder, Rahman visited her family in Pallabi, Dhaka, and promised a speedy trial. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, who accompanied the Prime Minister, informed journalists that the charge sheet in the murder case would be submitted to court by Sunday afternoon.
The three-day programme celebrating the birth anniversary of the National Poet began at the Nazrul Mancha of the Nazrul Academy ground in Darirampur, Trishal, an area linked to the poet’s childhood.
