Rajshahi New Govt Degree College Celebrates Influential Alumni Contributions

Dhaka: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, today highlighted the significant impact of Rajshahi New Government Degree College on both national and international stages, citing it as one of the country's premier educational institutions. His remarks were made during the inauguration of the registration activities for the HSC Alumni Association reunion (1968-2026) at the college auditorium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Minu emphasized the achievements of the college's alumni, noting their roles as government secretaries, senior officials, and prominent figures in the private sector. He praised the students for their academic excellence, with many having attained top positions in HSC examinations over the years.

Minu outlined the government's initiatives to enhance the education system, focusing on reducing dropout rates and supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. He acknowledged the efforts of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in expanding education, particularly for women.

As the college marks its 58th anniversary, Minu announced plans for a grand Diamond Jubilee celebration in its 60th year, inviting participation from alumni worldwide. He also revealed plans to renovate the college's aging auditorium.

The event was presided over by HSC Alumni Association Chief Patron Advocate Mohammad Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP. Special guests included Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Rajshahi Development Authority Chairman Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, Zila Parishad Administrator Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, Rajshahi College Principal Professor Ibrahim Ali, and the college's first alumnus Shahin Uddin Mondal.

Professor Dr Shikha Sarker, the college principal and HSC Alumni Association convener, delivered the welcome address. The gathering also saw attendance from government and private-sector officials, former and current students and teachers, local political leaders, and journalists.

The HSC Alumni Association reunion is slated for December 26.
