Raipura:The Raipura Upazila Health Complex in Narsingdi has initiated several measures to enhance medical services, speed up treatment, maintain cleanliness, and bolster healthcare delivery at the grassroots level, addressing certain existing limitations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the health complex, a key public healthcare facility for the upazila's residents, now offers regular outpatient services and 24/7 emergency care. This has significantly reduced the need for patients to travel to district headquarters or Dhaka for primary medical care.

Hospital sources revealed that a modern cell counter machine, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), was recently installed to facilitate quicker and more accurate blood tests. This advancement has decreased waiting times and diagnostic costs for patients. Additionally, a 10-bed dengue ward has been established, contributing to the treatment of around 200 dengue patients who have since recovered.

The health complex has also improved doctor and staff attendance, expanded X-ray and diagnostic services at regulated rates, and ensured the transparent distribution of government-supplied medicines. Routine cleaning activities have enhanced the hospital's environment both indoors and outdoors.

Efforts are underway to extend healthcare services to remote areas of the upazila, including initiatives like the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), measles-rubella campaigns, and digital health data preservation through Open SRP. These focus on providing healthcare to remote populations, particularly mothers and children.

Majeda Begum, a local patient, noted improvements in waiting times and cleanliness, while Ahmed Islam, a patient's relative, praised the promptness and attentiveness of medical staff. Dr. Jannatun Naim, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, emphasized ongoing efforts to ensure quality healthcare, regular attendance, and emergency services, supported by modern equipment like the cell counter machine.

Plans are in place to upgrade the facility to a 150-bed hospital to further enhance healthcare services, with proposals for a 'Jibon Tari' floating hospital to assist remote areas. Locals believe continued improvements, such as increasing hospital beds and appointing specialist doctors, will transform the Raipura Upazila Health Complex into an even more effective healthcare facility.
