RAB Rescues Infant Abducted During City Robbery, One Held.

Dhaka: Anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) early today rescued the infant, an eight-month-old, who was abducted on Friday during a robbery at a house in Azimpur Medical Staff Quarters. The rescue operation took place in the Mohammadpur Nabinagar Housing area in the capital. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted an overnight raid in the city's Mohammadpur Nabinagar Housing Area and successfully rescued the baby early today. A spokesman from RAB's legal and media wing confirmed the operation to BSS this noon. The authorities arrested Mst Fatema Akhter Shapla, 27, identified as the mastermind behind the robbery and abduction. She is the wife of Md Selim Hossain and an inhabitant of Alamdanga in Chuadanga. The incident unfolded on Friday when a gang of robbers broke into a house located in the Medical Staff Quarters of the Azimpur area. They looted valuables, including cash, and abducted the infant girl while fleeing with the stolen goods. Legal proceedings concerning the case are currently underway. The rescued infant, identified as Arisa Jannat Zaifa, has been handed over to her family, the RAB confirmed.
