Dhaka: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has been actively monitoring the online trade of sacrificial animals to prevent fraud and irregularities. “This year, a lot of sacrificial animals are being bought and sold online. In this case, the RAB Cyber Monitoring Cell is monitoring the virtual world around the clock to prevent irregularities and fraud,” stated Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, RAB’s legal and media director, during a news briefing at the RAB media centre in Kawran Bazar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the RAB has urged all involved in the online trading of sacrificial animals to remain vigilant. The force has advised that any complaints related to this issue should be reported to the RAB Control Room for prompt action.
RAB’s intelligence surveillance efforts are also focused on preventing profit-driven syndicates from manipulating the market for sacrificial animal rawhides. “Necessary measures will be taken against their misdeeds,” Chowdhury emphasized. Additionally, the RAB is implementing measures, including mobile courts, to prevent the harassment of women attending cattle markets.
Chowdhury further urged that victims of any form of harassment should report incidents to the RAB Control Room or RAB patrol teams, assuring that strict legal actions will be taken against perpetrators. Beyond regular patrols, RAB has increased intelligence surveillance around cattle markets to prevent any unwanted incidents.
