RAB Apprehends Dinajpur’s Fugitive Convict in Ashulia

Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 successfully captured a fugitive convict from Dinajpur district, who was serving a four-year sentence. The arrest took place in the Palashbari area under Ashulia police station of Dhaka on Thursday night.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the convict, identified as Md Kabirul, 42, is the son of the late Rahimuddin from village Kazipara, under Ghoraghat police station in Dinajpur district. A press release revealed that Kabirul had been sentenced to four years in prison by a Dinajpur court for a case filed at Ghoraghat Police Station under Section 25-B (2) of the Special Powers Act on April 4, 2021. Since the announcement of the verdict, Kabirul had been evading capture.



The arrest was made possible after a tip-off, leading to a joint operation by RAB-13’s Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-1 from Dinajpur Camp and RAB-4’s CPC-2 from Savar Camp. The operation successfully captured the fugitive convict in the Palashbari area under Ashulia police station of Dhaka at 7:25 pm on Thursday.



Following the arrest, Kabirul has been handed over to the Ghoraghat police station in Dinajpur district for further legal proceedings.
