Rajshahi: A coordinated drive to remove sacrificial animal waste is currently underway across all 30 wards of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC). The operation, which began at 11:00 am, involves the collection of waste from neighborhoods and lanes, which is then transported by van to the City Corporation’s Secondary Transfer Stations (STS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a total of 1,270 RCC workers, equipped with necessary vehicles and equipment, have been deployed to facilitate the waste removal process. To ensure a clean environment and prevent unpleasant odors, sufficient amounts of bleaching powder and disinfectants are being sprayed throughout the affected areas.
This afternoon, RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton personally inspected and supervised the qurbani waste removal activities in Ward No. 9. During his visit, he commended the conservancy workers for their relentless efforts to maintain a clean and healthy city in record time. He also urged city residents to utilize the eco-friendly bags provided by the RCC for storing qurbani waste and to place it in designated areas, emphasizing community cooperation in maintaining city cleanliness.
To ensure the seamless execution of this operation, RCC has canceled leaves for all officers, employees, and cleaners of the conservancy department, along with drivers, assistants, and other concerned personnel. For effective monitoring, 90 officers and employees have been assigned across the 30 wards, with three personnel dedicated to each ward.
For the first time, RCC has distributed three eco-friendly bags to every Muslim family across approximately 82,000 holdings in Rajshahi city for the hygienic storage of qurbani meat. Those sacrificing larger animals like cattle or buffalo received two large eco-friendly bags and 1 kg of bleaching powder, while those sacrificing smaller animals such as goats or sheep received one eco-friendly bag and 500 grams of bleaching powder.
