Quantum Foundation today organized the first reunion of blood donors and recipients in the city with the participation of over 200 Thalassaemia patients and two hundred voluntary blood donors.
On the occasion of World Blood Donors Day, Quantum Foundation organized the reunion and a seminar at IDEB Bhaban in the city’s Kakrail.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Emeritus Professor of Department of Medicine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr ABM Abdullah said that blood donation is a great work and called upon the young generation to donate blood voluntarily.
He said everyone should be aware about Thalassaemia disease.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Bangladesh is progressing in various fields under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said.
People of the country are now getting the news of the whole world through mobile phones due to the country’s progress in ICT sector, he said.
Hematology Society of Bangladesh President Prof. Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr AK Md Mostafa Abedin said blood donation is a great service. He urged everyone to donate blood.
Bangladesh Thalassaemia Association hospital advisor Syed Didar Bakhat emphasized on blood testing before marriage to prevent Thalassaemia.
Voluntary Blood Donation Director Motivation M Rezaul Hasan gave the welcome speech.
Voluntary blood donors and blood recipients with Thalassaemia expressed their feelings. Madam Nahar Al Bokhari, Chief Coordinator of Voluntary Blood Donation Program of Quantum Foundation, presided over the event.
