Public Employees Must Fulfill Duties Without Evasion: ACC Chief

Bogura: Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen emphasized that government employees have no scope to evade their responsibilities, as stipulated by service regulations, while participating in a public hearing held by the graft body.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Momen, addressing the ACC’s public hearing at Shaheed Titu Auditorium, firmly stated that public service workers cannot shirk their duties. He urged service seekers to refrain from offering bribes and encouraged civic vigilance against corruption, stressing the need for social awareness and active prevention of corruption within society. Dr. Momen also advised caution regarding investments in private institutions.



During the hearing, aggrieved individuals who experienced harassment or were deprived of services presented their complaints to the commission in the presence of the heads of government departments from Bogura district. Of the 97 complaints received, 57 were listed in the ACC schedule; two complaints were selected for investigation. Additionally, two individuals were taken into police custody in connection with one of the complaints. The remaining complaints are pending resolution, subject to the submission of reports.



The meeting was presided over by Bogura’s Deputy Commissioner Hosna Afroza, with ACC Rajshahi Division Director M Fazlul Haque delivering the welcome speech. Other notable attendees included ACC Director General (Prevention) M Akhter Hossain and Bogura District Superintendent of Police M Zedan Al Musa.
