Tangail: State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has emphasized that public awareness and cleanliness are essential to prevent dengue outbreaks. The minister highlighted the critical importance of these measures while addressing journalists after participating in a rally organized by the Tangail District Administration. This event was part of the Nationwide Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign 2026.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Tuku pointed out that the next three months are particularly critical as the risk of dengue outbreaks remains high. He emphasized that Aedes mosquitoes, which spread dengue, breed in stagnant water around homes. Therefore, it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and ensure that water does not accumulate anywhere in or around their homes. He urged the public not only to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings but also to encourage others to engage in similar activities.
Tuku also mentioned that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman envisions building the country through collective efforts. He stressed that preventive measures are vital to protect the population from dengue and other diseases. He urged individuals to extend awareness beyond themselves and fulfill their responsibilities to inform people around them.
The minister reiterated that the government alone cannot prevent dengue and called for active participation from the public. He stated that if everyone works together to raise awareness and maintain cleanliness, the prevalence of dengue can be significantly reduced.
The rally was attended by Tangail Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Superintendent of Police Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarkar, former member secretary of the District BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, and Sadar Upazila BNP President Azgar Ali. Other officials and employees of the district administration, along with leaders of the BNP and its affiliated organizations, were also present.
