A Dhaka Court today fixed July 16 for holding a
hearing on the application to remand six people in a case lodged over the
allegations of question papers leaking in various government recruitment
tests.
For the sake of proper investigation, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh
Chowdhury fixed the date today as the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case
CID Additional Special Superintendent of Police Jewel Chakma applied 10-day
remand for each of the accused.
The other five accused are– Deputy Directors of Bangladesh Public Service
Commission (PSC) Jahangir Alam, 58, and Abu Zafar, 57, Assistant Director SM
Alamgir Kabir, 49, Defense and Finance Department (BOF) auditor Priyanath
Roy, 51, Mirpur garment factory businessmen Noman Siddiqui, 44, and Jahedul
Islam, 27.
Earlier on July 9, the police produced 17 accused arrested in the court.
At that time, six persons including PSC driver Abed Ali agreed to give a
statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Following an application
from the investigation officer of the case, the
Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka recorded their statement.
On July 8, Sub-Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Nippon
Chandra Das filed a case with Paltan Police Station in the capital.
Name of 31 people was mentioned in the case. Besides, there are 50 to 60
unidentified accused.
According to the case, the accused, as a syndicate, leaked the question
papers of various grades of BCS and PSC in exchange of money in the past
years.
The accused have acquired illegal wealth beyond their known income sources by
selling questions to some government job aspirants.
