Dhaka: The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 has urged the tribunal to frame charges against four accused individuals in a case concerning crimes against humanity related to the killing of 28 individuals during the July Mass Uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam led the hearing today. Following the proceedings, the tribunal, consisting of three members and chaired by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, decided to adjourn the hearing until December 14.
The accused include former Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials Mohammad Redwanul Islam and Md Rafat Bin Alam, former additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Md Rashedul Islam, and former officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station Md Moshiur Rahman. The two former BGB officials are currently detained.
The case details reveal that 28 people were fatally shot and numerous others were injured in the Rampura area during the July Mass Uprising. Former BGB official Redwanul was reportedly observed discharging live rounds from his automatic weapon during the incident.
The prosecution has filed six specific charges against the accused in relation to the incident.
