Prof Zafrul and Prof Asaduzzaman Elected as New Leaders of JUAAB Executive Committee

Dhaka: The election of the 21-member Executive Committee of the Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB) for the 2025-2027 term was successfully held today at the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) auditorium in the city’s Farmgate area. The election took place in a peaceful and orderly manner with participation from 413 voters representing various public and private universities, research institutions, medical and dental universities, and government and non-government organizations across the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the voting was conducted in two sessions-from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. In the election, Dr. A.T.M. Zafrul Azam and Dr. Mohammed Asaduzzaman Sarker-led panel secured a full victory and will serve as the new Executive Committee for the next two years.

The newly elected members of the JUAAB Executive Committee include President Dr. A.T.M. Zafrul Azam, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Dhaka, and General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Asaduzzaman Sarker, Professor of Agricultural Extension Education and Director of IQAC at Bangladesh Agricultural University. Other key positions include Senior Vice-President Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Khan and Treasurer Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan.

The committee is also composed of nine additional members, including Dr. Md. Joynal Abedin and Dr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman, among others. These newly elected office bearers expressed their commitment to strengthening academic and professional ties among Bangladeshi alumni of Japanese universities and to promoting collaboration between Bangladesh and Japan in education, research, and development.
