Prof Yunus Congratulates Japan’s LDP Over Election Victory

Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today congratulated the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan on its historic and landslide victory in the election to the House of Representatives. “On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, and on my own behalf, I extend my warmest congratulations on the historic and landslide victory of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) under your leadership in the election to the House of Representatives held on February 8, 2026,” he said in a message sent to Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae. The Chief Adviser’s Press Wing released the message this evening.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in the message, Prof Yunus expressed that the decisive mandate reflects the strong confidence and trust placed in Prime Minister TAKAICHI’s leadership and vision by the people of Japan. He conveyed his optimism that under the Prime Minister’s continued stewardship, Japan will advance stability, prosperity, and constructive engagement both regionally and globally.



Prof Yunus emphasized the importance of the long-standing and trusted partnership between Bangladesh and Japan. He acknowledged Japan’s consistent support for Bangladesh’s development, highlighting cooperation in quality infrastructure and connectivity. This collaboration, he noted, has made a lasting contribution to the people and economy of Bangladesh.



The Chief Adviser expressed the Bangladesh government’s eagerness to work closely with the new administration in Japan to strengthen the partnership, deepen economic and technological cooperation, and advance shared priorities for mutual benefit. He concluded the message by extending his best wishes for the good health and success of Prime Minister TAKAICHI and for the continued peace, progress, and well-being of the people of Japan.
