Dhaka: Food Adviser Ali Imam Majumdar today highlighted the daily challenges faced by officers and employees of the food department in ensuring food security for the populace. ‘The employees and the officers of the food department have been successfully dealing with the challenges regarding the country’s food security for a long time. After the change of the government in 2024, most of the departments except the food department collapsed. They handled the situation successfully and worked relentlessly to tackle the future challenges,’ he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Majumdar made these remarks at a function organized to honor the officials and employees of the department for their contributions to the Aman and Boro procurement for the year 2024-2025. A total of 31 officers and employees were recognized at the event across different categories for their efforts in procurement, honesty, personal initiative and management, situation management, and coordination.
The adviser congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to begin working with renewed enthusiasm. He expressed confidence that there would be an adequate stock of food during their departure after the election and urged all officials and employees to work with utmost responsibility to complete the procurement by February.
Food Secretary Md Masudul Hasan attended the event as the special guest, while Food Department Director General Md Abul Hasnat Humayun Kabir presided over the function.
