Gaibandha: A grand procession was brought out to create awareness for preventing Dengue and its impacts in the district town this morning. District administration organized the rally to involve the people from all walks of life in preventing Dengue in the society. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Masudur Rahman Mollah formally inaugurated the rally that was brought out from Shaheed Minar premises and paraded the main roads of the district town.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DC Masudur Rahman Mollah emphasized the necessity of increasing awareness about Dengue and its impacts among the people to achieve a Dengue-free society. Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Jashim Uddin and Civil Surgeon Dr. Rafiquzzaman attended the function as special guests. SP Md. Jashim Uddin stated, “Government initiatives alone are not enough to prevent dengue; it requires massive public awareness.” He added that if everyone maintained cleanliness in their homes and yards, the incidence of dengue could be significantly reduced.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Rafiquzzaman, in his speech, stressed the importance of destroying breeding grounds of the Aedes mosquito, which carries dengue. He urged everyone to dispose of clear water that has accumulated for more than three days, maintain cleanliness of flower tubs, can shells, and tires regularly, and to foster a social movement against Dengue. A large number of people, including government officials and invited persons, participated in the procession.
