Dhaka:The Special Response Battalion (SRB)-13 has apprehended the main suspect in the kidnapping of a teenage girl from Rangpur. The arrest took place on Monday night in the Rangpuria Bazar (Rajfulbaria) area, under the Savar police station in Dhaka district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the suspect, Md Sayed Mia, 18, is the son of Hafizar Rahman from Girai village, Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district. The arrest was made following a kidnapping case filed by the teenager's father after she went missing on June 11, 2026, while traveling to her aunt's house.
Reports indicate that the victim, who is a 2026 SSC examinee from the same village, was abducted by Md Sayed Mia and several accomplices at 315 pm on June 11, using an auto-bike. This prompted her father to lodge a complaint at Mithapukur police station.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team from SRB-13 in Rangpur and SRB-4 in Manikganj conducted a raid in the Dhaka area where Md Sayed Mia was captured at 1040 pm. He has since been handed over to Mithapukur police station for further legal action.
