According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individual, Md Hafizur Rahman, aged 55, is the son of the late Abdul Hamid from Jalaidanga Pashchimpara village under Pirganj police station in Rangpur. A press release confirmed his arrest. The case details reveal that the victim, Sohel Rana, a 28-year-old tractor driver from Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur, was allegedly detained by Hafizur and his accomplices on October 27, 2025, on suspicion of motorcycle theft.

Following his detention, the accused allegedly demanded ransom from Sohel and forced him to sign three blank non-judicial stamps before handing him over to the complainant.
