Khulna:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Khulna and Bagerhat tomorrow to participate in several significant events, including the inauguration of the second season of the nationwide 'Notun Kuri Sports' initiative.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister will depart Dhaka by helicopter at 900 am, heading to Mongla. After completing two scheduled programs there, he will proceed by road to Khulna. During his visit, he will also pay his respects at the shrine of Hazrat Khan Jahan Ali (R) in Bagerhat district town.
In Khulna, the Prime Minister is set to launch the second season of 'Notun Kuri Sports' at the district stadium. This event is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to identify sporting talents at the grassroots level nationwide. The visit has sparked significant enthusiasm among local leaders, activists, supporters, and residents of Khulna. The city has been spruced up, with colorful banners and festoons promoting 'Notun Kuri Sports (Season-2)' adorning the district stadium and surrounding roads.
Additionally, graffiti depicting Khulna's history and heritage, including the July uprising, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, the Sundarbans, and the Royal Bengal Tiger, have been painted along the streets from Shibbari intersection to the main entrance of the railway station. Notably, the city lacks the usual welcome arches or banners for a head of government visit, as all such installations have been removed.
To ensure safety, tight security measures have been implemented across Khulna city in anticipation of the Prime Minister's visit. Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju remarked that the city has been made clean, attractive, and presentable to welcome the Prime Minister. "We are waiting to warmly welcome our Prime Minister," he stated.
