Dhaka:Khulna Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assumed responsibility for the medical treatment of Khan Saiful, a former joint convener of Khulna City Chhatra Dal, after a social media post highlighted his ongoing health issues.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Prime Minister, who serves as the chief patron of the 'Amra BNP Paribar' organization, was prompted to act after viewing a video featuring Saiful's comments during his treatment in Khulna. Following this, the Prime Minister directed his Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Rumon, to arrange and monitor Saiful's treatment.
Subsequent to these instructions, Saiful's treatment was organized under the guidance of Professor Dr. Shah Muhammad Aman Ullah, affiliated with the Prime Minister's Office. Saiful has since been admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital (NINS) in Agargaon, Dhaka, under the supervision of the hospital's Director, Professor Dr. Md Nuruzzaman Khan.
A medical board of specialist physicians is expected to be formed within the next two days to manage Saiful's treatment. Present at the hospital were several notable figures, including Professor Dr. A Z M Saifuddin, head of the Anaesthesia Department, Dr. M R Hasan from the Doctors Association of Bangladesh, and other members from the Chhatra Dal.
Saiful's health issues date back to 2013, when he was reportedly tortured by police during the previous government's tenure. Prior arrangements for his treatment in various hospitals in Dhaka had also been made under the Prime Minister's direction.
