Dhaka: Prime Minister's Office Spokesperson and Adviser Mahdi Amin today announced that the Prime Minister Gold Cup tournament will be a historic event in the country's education and sports arena. "To this end, extensive nationwide publicity, effective coordination and optimum monitoring will be ensured from the beginning to the end of the tournament," he stated.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin made these remarks during a meeting of the Prime Minister Gold Cup Tournament National Standing Committee held at the Ministry of Education's conference room. He highlighted that previously, about 22 lakh students participated at the primary level and over 11 lakh at the secondary level in the tournament. However, he admitted that there were limitations in publicity and branding for such a significant event.

This year, steps have been taken to address these limitations and promote the tournament on a broader scale, as noted by the adviser. "This time, one of our main goals is to strengthen the campaign and public relations activities, so that this event gets due importance in every media of the country and common people can get involved in it," Mahdi Amin emphasized.

A robust committee has been established for the overall management, campaign, and coordination of the tournament, which includes relevant ministers, state ministers, and senior officials. This is expected to ensure more effective coordination in planning and implementation than ever before.

Plans are underway to transform the Prime Minister Gold Cup into a national festival, with an opening ceremony reminiscent of the World Cup, featuring creative events, a theme song, and other programs with student participation. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to attend both the opening and final stages of the tournament.

The event's journey will commence outside Dhaka to provide students nationwide equal participation opportunities. Mahdi Amin mentioned that the Prime Minister personally decided the tournament's name, with the government aiming to make it a unique national event that combines education, culture, and sports for future generations.

Emphasis has also been placed on increasing local-level involvement, with initiatives encouraging elected representatives, including parliament members, to actively participate and promote the tournament in their areas. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Local Government, along with various related ministries and departments, will work in coordination to ensure the event's success.

Through coordinated efforts from grassroots to national levels, the Prime Minister's Gold Cup aims to be a quality event and a model for future national programs. The meeting was attended by secretaries and officials from the concerned ministries and members of the National Standing Committee.
