Dhaka: The Directorate of Primary Education has issued a directive asking authorities concerned to send information on the development of playgrounds of government primary schools across the country by April 4. The information was sought through a letter recently signed by Director (Planning and Development) of the Directorate of Primary Education Mirajul Islam Ukil.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the letter was sent to all District Primary Education Officers, providing a list of schools with estimated costs to re-verify soil filling and palisading activities at the upazila level. This is part of a proposed project titled ‘Development of Playgrounds of Selected Government Primary Schools in Bangladesh.’

The letter specified that the listed schools, along with any additional institutions if necessary, must be re-inspected by the Upazila Primary Education Officer and the Upazila Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). After verification, a final upazila-wise list of schools, including estimated costs for soil filling and palisading activities, will have to be prepared.

Furthermore, the directive requires that officials provide a joint certification confirming that the schools mentioned in the list have been re-inspected and verified. The estimated costs must align with the LGED Rate Schedule 2022, with the latest version updated in August 2025, while considering the drainage system in preparing cost estimates for palisading work.

District Primary Education Officers have been instructed to compile and submit all relevant information from their respective districts to meet the April 4 deadline.
