Dhaka: Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities. DSEX, the broad index of DSE, declined by 22.8 points or 0.4% to settle at 5,332 points as against 5,355 points in the previous trading session.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on the sectoral front, Bank issues exerted the highest turnover at 25.7%, followed by Textile at 9.1% and Pharmaceutical at 9.0%. Sectors mostly displayed negative returns, with General Insurance showing a decline of 2.6%, Life Insurance at 2.1%, and Ceramic sectors at 1.9% on the bourse today.
Out of the 397 issues traded, 117 advanced, 229 declined, and 51 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, also witnessed a profit-booking session today, with the Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declining by 25.3 and 40.0 points, respectively.
