Press Council Chairman Seeks Cooperation from All to Fulfill Its Objectives

Lakshmipur: Chairman of Bangladesh Press Council Justice A K M Abdul Hakim today sought cooperation from all to fulfill its objectives, emphasizing the council’s ongoing efforts to promote freedom of the press. ‘Cooperation from all including the young generation is crucial to fulfill the objectives of the council.the council has been working on freedom of press,’ he stated.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Press Council Chairman made these remarks while addressing a training workshop on ‘Resisting yellow journalism in mass media and objective journalism’ at Lakshmipur Circuit House as the chief guest. He highlighted the disparity between discussions in seminars, symposiums, and meetings and the actual situation, noting that while it’s easy to speak eloquently, these words often don’t translate into tangible action.



Justice Hakim urged individuals to contribute within their capacities towards reforms to ensure objective journalism, stressing the importance of the youth community’s involvement. The workshop, organized by the Press Council with support from the local district administration, saw participation from 40 journalists representing both print and electronic media.



Prominent attendees included Deputy Secretary of the council Md Abdus Sabur, Deputy Commissioner of Lakshmipur Rajib Kumar Sarkar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General J P Dewan, Additional Police Super (Crime and Ops) Md Hassan Mostafa Swapon, and District Information Officer Biswanath Majumder.
