President Stresses Merit and Competence to Enhance University Education and Research

Dhaka: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today emphasized the importance of prioritizing competence and merit in all domains, particularly in teacher recruitment, to enhance the quality of education and research at universities. "Competence and merit must be given the highest priority in all areas, including teacher recruitment, to further improve the quality and excellence of education and research at universities," he stated.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President made these remarks during a courtesy call by Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan at Bangabhaban today. President's Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam provided a briefing to BSS regarding the meeting.

During their discussion, Professor Ahsan updated the President on the university's overall education, research, and academic activities. Additionally, he extended a formal invitation to the President, who serves as the Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University, to attend the university's proposed convocation scheduled for April next year.

The President graciously accepted the invitation and expressed his interest in participating in the convocation event. Secretaries from the President's Office were also in attendance at the meeting.
