President Shahabuddin Urges DCs to Foster a Transparent and Humane Administration

Dhaka: President Mohammed Shahabuddin today called upon the field-level officials of the administration to enhance their dedication towards serving the citizens, emphasizing the need for a transparent, accountable, and humane administration. Addressing the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) during the ‘Deputy Commissioners Conference-2026’ at Bangabhaban, the President underscored the importance of their role as direct representatives of the government.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the President reminded the DCs of their duty to listen to the grievances, problems, and complaints of the common people, urging them to resolve these issues at the earliest opportunity. He stressed the significance of delivering fast, easy, and quality services to the people and urged the officials to ensure that both government and private service providers operate without hindrance.



The President highlighted the importance of improving service quality through the increased use of information technology (IT), better market monitoring, preventing illegal hoarding, and implementing government decisions to mitigate the global energy crisis. He paid tribute to the Great Independence proclaimer Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, the brave soldiers, national leaders of the Liberation War, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia for their contributions.



President Shahabuddin also commemorated the sacrifices of the martyrs from the 2024 student-public uprising, acknowledging their role in re-establishing democracy in the country. He praised the field administration for their honest and professional conduct during the recent Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls, which were held in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.



The President urged administrative officials to modernize land management, ensure timely implementation of development projects, and make proper use of government funds. He called for stronger coordination with law enforcement agencies and civil society to combat misinformation and rumors on social media.



Additionally, the President emphasized the importance of safeguarding women and children, protecting marginalized communities, enhancing youth skills, generating employment, and preventing drug abuse. He identified corruption as a major development obstacle and reiterated the government’s ‘Zero Tolerance’ policy, advocating for transparency, accountability, and ethics at every administrative level.



Expressing hope for a developed, modern, just, and humane Bangladesh, President Shahabuddin encouraged the officials to implement the directives from the DC conference actively. The event also featured speeches from Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj district Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi, and Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah, among others. Senior military, civil officials, and secretaries of the President’s Office attended the conference, which concluded with a photo session.
