Sylhet: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived in Sylhet on Tuesday for a daylong visit, marking a significant occasion for the city. The aircraft carrying the president landed at Osmani International Airport at 11:29 am, where he was warmly received by Members of Parliament from different constituencies in Sylhet, district administration officials, and senior leaders from various political parties.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the President departed from Dhaka at around 10:30 am and reached the Sylhet Circuit House by approximately 11:50 am. Upon his arrival at the Circuit House, President Mirza Fakhrul received a guard of honour. His itinerary included a visit to the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) at 12:30 pm, followed by a visit to the shrine of Hazrat Shahparan (RA) at around 1:25 pm.
The President was also scheduled to attend a civic reception organized by the Sylhet City Corporation at the Nagar Bhaban. After the reception, he planned to return to the Circuit House before concluding his visit and leaving Sylhet for Dhaka by air at around 8 pm.
Extensive security measures were in place for the presidential visit, as stated by Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sarwar Murshed Shamim. Approximately 1,000 police personnel were deployed, with an additional 200 members assigned to extra duties to ensure the safety and smooth proceedings of the day's events.
