President Mirza Fakhrul Arrives in Thakurgaon on Two-Day Visit

Dhaka: President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived in Thakurgaon on Sunday afternoon on a two-day visit, marking his first tour to his home district since assuming office. A helicopter carrying the President landed at Thakurgaon Mohammad Ali Stadium at 1:00pm.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam, Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Huq, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Rangpur Range) Mohammad Abdul Mabud, Superintendent of Police Md Belal Hossain, Thakurgaon district BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, and General Secretary Paigam Ali welcomed the President at the helipad. Convener of the Citizens' Committee Dr Abu Mohammad Khairul Kabir and Secretary General Dr Shahiduzzaman were also present to receive him.

Later, a contingent of Bangladesh Police presented a guard of honour to the President at Thakurgaon Circuit House. Following the ceremony, Mirza Fakhrul visited Senua graveyard to pay respects to his parents. He offered Fateha at their graves and joined a munajat seeking the salvation of their departed souls.

Subsequently, the President visited his residence in Thakurgaon town. In the afternoon, he attended a civic reception arranged in his honour at the Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School playground, which began at 3:30pm. He is also scheduled to attend a view-exchange meeting with local leaders and dignitaries in the evening.

On the second day of his visit on Monday, President Mirza Fakhrul will lay the foundation stone of Thakurgaon University.
